Frank J. Wideman, III, President of The Self Family Foundation announced the following grants were awarded by the trustees at their December 19, 2015 board meeting:
United Center for Community Care – $30,000 operational support.
ETV Endowment of South Carolina – $25,000 to support the production of a documentary on the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution and the development of a complimentary curriculum for use in SC schools.
Piedmont Agency on Aging – $22,500 to purchase and install additional freezers to support Meals on Wheels at the Nutrition Center.
SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics – $20,000 for the Accelerate Virtual Engineering Initiative in partnership with Greenwood School District 50.
Cokesbury Historical Commission – $15,000 to install new HVAC and re-glaze windows at Cokesbury College.
American Red Cross – $10,000 to assist with disaster relief efforts in the Greenwood area as a result of the 2015 flood.
McCormick Arts Council – $10,000 matching grant to assist with renovations at the MACK.
The Self Family Foundation’s primary areas of emphasis are education, community wellness, and arts, culture & history. The Foundation’s chief geographic area of interest is Greenwood County, South Carolina. Trustees are Mat Self (Chairman), Sally Self, M.D., Jay Self, Bubba Self, Furman Self, Cade Brennan Jackson, Ginger Self Goldsmith, Mary Andrews Self Whittington, Welborn Adams and jon holloway.
The Self Family Foundation was organized in 1942 and to date has awarded over $65,000,000 in grants to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Greenwood and the State of South Carolina.
