Frank J. Wideman, III, President of The Self Family Foundation announced the following grants were awarded by the trustees at their October 14, 2017 board meeting:

Greenwood Community Theatre – $30,000 grant for a Youth and Outreach Coordinator position.

Columbia College – $25,000 grant for the Summer Leadership Institute for Greenwood Girls for the next three years.

Greenwood School District 50 – $25,000 for the Springfield Elementary School Shine and Dine Afterschool Club which will focus on reading improvement and enrichment activities in Fairfield-Winn, Gardens of Parkway and Cardinal Glen Apartments.

United Housing Connection – $23,212 grant for repairs to stairs and playground equipment at Twin Oaks apartments.

Greenwood Performing Arts – $10,000 grant to support the Intergenerational Educational Outreach Program for students and senior adults.

United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties – $3,000 grant for the Weekend Backpack Program for Greenwood County schools.

The Self Family Foundation’s primary areas of emphasis are education, community wellness, and arts, culture & history.
