Every member of our community is born with the potential to become a vital part of our lives in the Greenwood area. Research has proven that the experiences we have while in the womb and during the earliest years of our lives play a huge role in how we grow. When newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers receive the kind of love and nurturing that stimulates brain development, they are more likely to do better throughout school, graduate from college, earn more money, and get along better with others. Investments in a child’s earliest years pay off for everyone. That’s why we’ve made early childhood a key focus of our grantmaking.
A Focus on Early Childhood
We support early childhood in a wide variety of ways, such as:
- Promoting maternal health during pregnancy
- Ensuring proper nutrition
- Helping parents learn how to stimulate brain development in their young children
- Funding Montessori classrooms in area public schools
- Training teachers in the art of Montessori education
We’re particularly proud of our long-term investment in Montessori education, both here in Greenwood and around the state.
